Into The Wind

How many nights have you laid awake thinking about things that were, could have been, things that you can’t change now, the past? How many times have you raised out of bed with the same fears, hurts, struggles that you went to bed with?

I am glad that I can’t really put a number to how many of those nights and mornings I can lay claim to because it is probably shamefully high. Last night I was laying in bed and it came crashing down on me that I have been holding onto hurts and looking back…and not letting myself move forward. We have one life to live and its but a breath in the grand scheme…and there is no room for looking back.

Today is crazy windy out in my part of the world and it brought about an embarrassing lesson for me…when I was walking forward the winds blew my hair back away from my face and I could see everything pretty clearly, I just had to squint my eyes a little but I could get through it…It wasn’t perfect and it wasn’t an easy walk in the park (if you will) but I knew where I was going and the path I was on… but then I couldn’t remember if I had locked my car so I looked back at my car and beeped the clicker and in just that time the wind whipped my hair in my face and as I tried to get the hair out of my eyes and mouth I walked into a brick wall. Comical to you, perhaps, but it hurt more than just my pride. But looking back at my car was like what we all do when we start thinking about our past. We take our minds off of what we are doing, what is ahead and what is most important. The wind was like all of the stuff that is constantly being thrown at us daily and just because you turn around to look at your car doesn’t mean it’s gonna stop blowing…but when you are walking into the wind your body adjusts to it and life isn’t so hectic, but stop and turn against it and you change the whole dynamic.

But whether you think it’s a good analogy of how focusing on the past can bite you or not, it made me start thinking.

Charles Kettering said “You can’t have a better tomorrow if you are thinking about yesterday all the time.” I want to be the best I can be so why hold myself back by continually looking back at my hurts and let downs? No more.

Have a GOODloe Day and an even better New Year!

2010 Lessons

What have I learned this year? That was the question the radio station asked today…hmm…Well, let’s see…

1. You can never be thankful enough for the little things in life. We take things for granted. Up until this year I took walking for granted. For a couple of months this year I was in a wheel chair, and even since then a few times my movement has been limited, but by the grace of God and great family to help me through I am walking and won’t ever take it for granted again.

2. That brings me to my second thing: Family and Friends. I have learned this year that I have amazing people in my life. Family who will go great distances to make sure I am ok. Drive 1000’s of miles, pay hospital bills, arrange for hotel stays…you name it…I have had a family member do it for me this year. And friends…friends who kept my spirits high when I was near my lowest. Friends who made sure I was financially ok and emotionally ok…I am truly blessed.

3. I have learned that you sometimes have to take your walls down and open yourself up to be hurt if you really want to be loved…it’s just a chance worth taking.

4. I learned that you can never tell those around you that you love them nearly enough…you never know when tomorrow is your last tomorrow…. That this might be your last hug or kiss. We aren’t guaranteed another day, hour or minute… So let them know you miss them..love them..I promise there are a lot more people who regret that they didn’t say it enough than there are who said it too much.

5. You can let things in your past dictate who you are or you can take charge of your life and make something of yourself. Where you have come from following a bad experience or from your raising may not have been your fault but who you become is between you and God.

6. And I guess the last thing I have learned is that you have to forgive. I know that’s something that I “have known” for years but I don’t think it’s something I apply to my life as a daily thing like I should. If you don’t forgive like you should you are holding yourself back from gifts from God and from really knowing love. Forgiveness will totally change who you are, bring you a peace like you can’t believe.

So, 2010 is wrapping up and I have learned a few things, which is good. And what I have learned are life lessons that will carry me into 2011 and beyond and I am hoping that maybe they will help you a little in your evaluation of your life and year. I am thankful for you and for all of God’s blessings and for one more chance to tell you all I Love You.

Did you know???

Did you know that if you put a 26 year old law abiding citizen behind the wheel of a machine that can produce 300 horsepower its like a whole new person comes out? It takes me everything I can do to not speed in that car.  Used to, speeding in the city happened on accident because I might not be paying attention, now speeding in the city might happen just because I put it into 2nd gear.  It's crazy!!  8 cylinders is alot of power to control and I hope I learn to control it before I get busted...
Also, did you know that if you put a 26 year old woman in a Mustang GT at a stop light it apparently means she wants to race?  I didn't know that buying this car meant that all of sudden everybody was going to try to race me and in case you are wondering...no, I am not racing...I am controlling that urge somehow...although I don't know how.  Some of them are just no brainers...like seriously dude??? You really think your dropped 4 four banger, rice burning honda is gonna beat my car just because you put on a new spoiler and look over (not thru) your cool shades?? Really, it's dark outside, lose the sunglasses. And get a life because your car won't stand a chance.  My car can do 0-60 in 4.9 seconds... so cut it out, I don't need the temptation and we both know I am gonna win anyway.
Third, did you know that if you are a 26 year old woman and tell men that you can handle a manual Mustang GT that atleast 7 out of 10 of them will light up and start talking power and cars with you?  I didn't know that knowing how to drive a stick is apparently a skill that not a lot of girls know how to do.  But go me I guess! I don't let myself get down about the 30% who don't get excited because they are probably city boys who have never learned how to drive one and feel outplayed by me...heehee...or atleast that's what I am going to start thinking now.
So here is the nitty gritty, bottom line of it all...My car is the first thing I have ever really done for me... I am single, no kids, and hopefully in a few years all of that will all change, but I wanted to do something for me in the mean time that I can enjoy and have fun with.  When I start having kids I won't be able to have it so when is a better time than now to do what makes me happy?  I will spend the rest of my life striving to please the man of life and my beautiful babies...but for now, I am going to let myself enjoy this me time, in my beautiful blue muscle car.

Gotta bring it back

Have you ever just stopped and said, "Now what?"  "Now what?" about any part or all of your life, just "Now what?"  What comes next?  What's the next milestone?  Where is life going to take me now?  Life is going to take me somewhere...right?

In another time in my life, actually what seems like another life altogether, I wouldn't have even cared what was next...I would have just had my bags packed and ready.  But now in my new life there has to be plans and steps or something guiding me in someway...I just feel lost somedays, like I am wandering in a very brightly lit hallway with lots of doors but no signs to tell me where they go...almost like a hospital with no exit signs...I am just aimlessly walking the halls, afraid to open doors because I might walk in on another patient.  Nothing guiding me forward or showing me where I have been, just an empty hallway.  And I feel trapped by this.  I feel trapped because I feel like I HAVE to know where I am going and what my options are behind the doors. As if I need to be led, or scheduled.

Part of me yearns for the simpler more carefree days when it didn't matter what was ahead...nobody asking me what my plans were...I was just living.  I was free to be me, whoever that was.  Sometimes I don't feel like I even know that girl anymore...But I am sure she is here with me somewhere, hoping to be pulled to the forefront again...hoping for her chance at life again...I hate that I have forced that part of me to the shadows, to the dark corners of rooms left unopened in my head and heart for who knows how long.  Keyed in by this person I have become that HAS to know what lies ahead...Who do I think I am to lock up the living part of who I am?  The part of me that made me adventurous and carefree?  The part of me who formed me into me.

I'm sick of it for her...I am taking charge of it...for her...and I am letting go of it all...for her.  I am ready to live the life I was put here to live and she is going to be here to live it with me. Welcome back to the world Breezy Dawn.

Fall Favorites..

I love the fall… the trees are changing, the air is cool, my electric bill is super low…I mean seriously low. This time of year is my favorite time of year. While I enjoy the summer because I like the outdoors, it’s often so flipping hot you can’t enjoy it a good deal of the time… and it’s better than spring because there isn’t as much wind and its coming up on winter which is a little too cold.

Fall is the start of the holiday season with family and friends making their rounds to all of the Thanksgiving spreads. And families lining up at Sears for Christmas photos for their greeting cards, and thre are of course the holiday sales…yippee!…I just love it all…People just seem happier this time of year. All good things!

Plus there is all the food! People cook more this time of year which is good for the eater in me… everything from grandma’s renowned cookies and fresh fudge to turkey and ham and green bean casserole…wow, my mouth just started watering. As much as I love the steaks and burgers and hot dogs of summer, there’s just something about a homemade pot pie or fresh made green chile chicken casserole straight from the oven that can just send me right into cool weather heaven. It’s like food just becomes more rich and savory when the weather gets cool…ok, I have to quit talking about food or I am going to have to quit writing and take a snack break. Chicken Alfredo, prime rib, dressing…now I’m done.

But seriously my favorite part of this season are the low electric bills… kidding, it’s the togetherness with the ones we care about. The sit down meals together, the football tailgates, the snuggling on the couch, the ski trips, the Christmas parties, the shopping and then going to Ruth’s for a burger, and just chatting about the day with the people you missed all day. The holidays just come once a year and are gone in a blink and for some they are the only time they get with their families. If you have no time to stop and smell the roses all year, you need to stop and smell the pine trees during this time of year…you won’t regret it.

The last day of fall is December 20th…so enjoy the season while it lasts…I know I will!

Mr. Right

We love, we lose and we ultimately should learn from it, right? So why is it that we often are drawn to the same type of people over and over? It’s weird because you hear yourself say “they aren’t my type,” but “Hello Mcfly!” If your type was right for you don’t you think you would have nailed it down by now?! And I keep saying you because I am in denial. I don’t want to admit to you or myself that I have been doing this… I am for some reason unknown to me, attracted to men who are completely wrong for me… and I sit and wonder why. There are good guys available(right?), I mean surely it’s not true that they really are all gay or married, because that really stinks if that’s true… But is it that there is just ONE special person made for each of us like some believe or could it be possible that a number of people be right for you if the circumstances are right and the relationship is nurtured? I wish I knew…because while I try to be an optimistic person, I don’t know that looking for a needle in a haystack is really my cup of tea… And I am one of those few people out there who really and truly believes that marriage is FOREVER and you have to work at it…so then I find my needle and what if he doesn’t believe like that?! Or does him being my needle automatically mean that he and I will share that belief? I dunno…see…so much to think about…

And so there we go getting back on the relationship merry go round…the same one we always get on and jump off at the same time looking for the same old thing…or should we choose to cross the monkey bars instead and see what’s on the other side waiting for us?! Maybe it’s just the other side of the same old park, or maybe it’s exactly what we have been searching for.

All I am saying is give it atleast a shot..no hurt in trying...the guy from left field might be the wind beneath your wings, and if not eh well, maybe he is just the wind under your kite and he will blow it up onto a power line and you will have to call a handsome service man to get it free...heehee.. Just messing...give it a real shot.

Have a GOODloe Day!

Woke up..

Have you ever felt like you were “waking up” in your life….I mean like you had kind of been just going through motions of work, and family, and life in general and you really don’t know how long you were out of it?

Well in the last week or so I feel like I have awakened from a deep sleep. Like that I went to lie down on the couch to watch TV and am finally getting up after months of snoozing. It’s an odd feeling…I am turning 26 in a few weeks, and am like, wow... How did that happen? This year flew by. I think that’s how I became so aware that I was out of it for a while.

So when that happens…when you feel like you have lost some time…It makes it all the more important to make the rest of your time more meaningful (more smiles, laughs, and kisses, etc.) And be true to YOU… I think that is one the biggest things…Our time is pretty short. Yea, 100 years seems like a long time, but when you think back on all that’s happened in America’s history and all the great explorers in history and before that through the Conquests, and plagues of Egypt, and the flood, and all the way back to Adam…our 100 years here is but a breath. We have just a short passing time here to show who we are, so why be someone else?

I remember one time I wore a pink and white “cowgirl” type skirt and some boots…I loved that skirt and those boots…and I only wore them to class once because people made fun of me…and still today I sometimes think of that day because I loved that outfit and I felt like me in it…So don’t let what others say about you or to you change who you are or what you want to make of yourself. If you want to rock some cowboy boots…rock ‘em! And just ignore what others have to say about it…we only have a short time here so we should enjoy it, and really, what should it matter to anybody else what you wear? I am at a point where there is no room in my life for things that bring me down…if it isn’t illegal or against my morals and brings a smile to my face, it’s probably worth it. So if you catch me in some off the wall outfit or something, keep your comments to yourself… I’m doing what works for me and God, so thank you, but frankly, what you think of my boots doesn’t matter to me.

Sometimes Goodbye is a Second Chance

I have been thinking a lot about life, love and moving on in the last few weeks. And I keep coming back to a few words from a song that a friend told me to listen to when I was going thru troubles last year. Just over a year ago I was split up from my boyfriend at the time and my friend D (protecting the innocent) and his girlfriend were having a hard time and he introduced me to the song Second Chance by Shinedown. At the time it didn’t hit me what those words meant because I was so set on us getting back together, which we did, and it wasn’t until after our official end it all break off in October that those words started really meaning something. Actually, it wasn’t until much after that that they really started meaning something but break ups take time to heal and transform us.

I have started thinking about all the really significant breakups I have had. I think I have had three that really took a toll on my heart…bet you little former breakers of my heart are wondering if you made the cut, lol, sorry not telling you who! They were the relationships that really formed my opinions of what I want and don’t want in my future mate and that with each of them breaking my heart; it was a new start for me…a Second Chance. Some of them pulverized my heart repeatedly in some cases, and I loved them so much that I just kept going in for seconds and thirds and fourths. And I remember when I was younger I heard an adage and I believed it then, “Those who make you cry aren’t worth your tears and those who are, won’t make you cry.” What a crock. People make mistakes. The people we love and love us will hurt you, not necessarily intentionally but it will happen, and believing that they won’t is setting yourself up for hurt.

As much as I hate break ups, the best part about them is that it just means that God is setting up something better for you. Sometimes Goodbye is a Second Chance for God to say, "See I let you have the reigns last time and look where it got you…now sit back and let me give you what I have in store for you."…It’s going to be a pretty sweet deal if you will just wait on it, just wait on Him.

Switching gears slightly…I have thought about the times that I have left what was comfortable to do what I thought was right for me. And you know what…it’s not always easy but you have to take chances in life or you are going to look up when you are 70 and say what happened to my life? Sometimes you have to say Goodbye to the easy things, to things that keep you in your rut. Second chances are awesome and you never know where they will take you . I’m not saying quit your job in the middle of a recession, but look at your life and consider what is working and what isn’t and what you really WANT… are your wants lining up with what’s working or are you just doing what’s working because you have always done it? Stop settling…take charge of your life, we only get one, but if we handle it right you can get a Second Chance, but not if you wait too long.

Love God, Love Others, Love Yourself…

Master's Hand

Today’s blog is a little deeper than others and I must add that I stole the basic idea from another blogger because his blog brought me near to tears so I thought I would kind of give my little take on it because it was really worth the read for me, so maybe it will be for you. So, thank you Rick Kraft for your words, and now here are mine…

Before you read the following poem by Myra Brooks Welch and my words to follow, I want you to think about something…If you were put up on an auction block right now, how much do you think you would go for?

It was battered and scarred, And the auctioneer thought it Hardly worth his while To waste his time on the old violin, But he held it up with a smile. "What am I bid, good people", he cried, "Who starts the bidding for me?" "One dollar, one dollar, Do I hear two?" "Two dollars, who makes it three?" "Three dollars once, three dollars twice, going for three",
But, No, From the room far back a grey haired man Came forward and picked up the bow, Then wiping the dust from the old violin And tightening up the strings, He played a melody, pure and sweet, As sweet as the angel sings.
The music ceased and the auctioneer With a voice that was quiet and low, Said "What now am I bid for this old violin?" As he held it aloft with its' bow. "One thousand, one thousand, Do I hear two?" "Two thousand, Who makes it three?" "Three thousand once, three thousand twice, Going and gone", said he.
The audience cheered, But some of them cried, "We just don't understand." "What changed its' worth?" Swift came the reply. "The Touch of the Masters Hand."
And many a man with life out of tune, All battered with bourbon and gin, Is auctioned cheap to a thoughtless crowd Much like that old violin. A mess of pottage, a glass of wine, A game and he travels on. He is going once, he is going twice, He is going and almost gone. But the Master comes, And the foolish crowd never can quite understand, The worth of a soul and the change that is wrought By the Touch of the Master's Hand.

Now think about that question again. Did you value yourself high or low…or somewhere in between? Would you consider yourself the precious, rare find at auction, or the worn out scraps that people shouldn't be wasting their time on?

I’ll admit that at times I am really hard on myself and feel my worth is little and that nobody would want me…but truth is I am a masterpiece created to be valued and cherished. We are our own worst critics lots of times, but the thing is that we are just out of tune and need our Master to dust us off and tweak us and make our beauty be seen. We make mistakes and fall but that doesn’t mean we lose our value in our Master’s eyes. We just need to learn to live our lives as best we can and try to make the best music we can to please Him.

Love God, Love Others and Love Yourself....

I thank God I am American!

It's America's birthday and one of my very favorite holidays. It's the day that we can celebrate our freedom and our lives as Americans.

We truly are lucky people. I know there are people who came here from other countries and want to celebrate "their roots" by flying flags of other colors over our lands, but I find it very disrespectful. Have them in your house if you want, but you came here for a reason, so celebrate the freedoms you have here..that is if you are here legally (but I am not going there with this one, I am talking to my American Brothers and Sisters in this one.)

I love my country so much. I love that I can worship God, can own a gun, can elect officials, that I have amazing people fighting for me day and night, can own property, build my own wealth...the list is endless...while some of these are challenged on occasion, I have an amazing thing called the Constitution on which I believe that if we continue to turn to it my rights will continue to stand. So many nations, so many people, around the world don't have the things, the rights and freedoms that we take for granted everyday. Like when your family stops to say grace at the restaurant..in some countries you would be killed for honoring God.

I read something this morning about the pledge and whether we really think about the words when we read it...Do you? Do the words mean something to you? Or when you sing The Star Spangled Banner, is it just the precursor to the booze and ball game...or is it a salute to the men and women who have fallen and your allegiance to a country that you can truly live free? When I here patriotic songs I get fired...like truly fired up. I get teary eyed, and I think about my friends over seas, and people I don't even know...and the fact that they are there so I can sit and enjoy this song on the radio around a fire with a group of friends. Freedom isn't free and that's why this 234th American Birthday is just as important as the first one, because the great names of our beginning: Washington, Adams, Franklin, Jefferson, Paine, would want us to revere our freedom. The stands they made for our country made us who we are. They wanted freedom so bad, they committed treason...how bad do you cherish your freedom?

Next time you stand for the pledge, stand up straight, hand over your heart, and say it like you mean it. Think about each word: "I pledge allegiance to the Flag of the United States of America, and to the Republic for which it stands, one Nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all." because there have been thousands of people who have given their lives for you say every word of that pledge.

I love my United States of America and the God who I pray continues to watch over her. God Bless the USA...And Happy Fourth of July! LET FREEDOM RING!!!

Have a GOODloe Day!

Take back OUR Country

Five months from now our country will be at another crossroads. The 2010 elections will be upon us and it will be our chance to decide whether to continue on this "hopey-changey" course or put America back on the course it belongs! We should have stayed true to the American ideals in the first place, we were not founded on the principles of communism, so why are we trying to convert to them now?
Alright, if that offended you quit reading now because its not gonna get any better.

November is an important time for our beloved country. It is our chance to take back what was taken away. If there are/were any liberals left reading this I'm sure they would say nothing has been taken away..but I beg to differ. One of my oldest memories as a kid was saying the pledge. I remember that I was in 1st grade and I remember standing up proud and straight and reciting every word like it was the truest thing that was ever written. The words meant something to me...and today they still mean just as much to me as they did then. I love my country and the God on which it was founded so much I have tears in my eyes right now because I know that there are people who will read this and slander it. I have always believed in my heart of hearts that this country is the BEST of the BEST and not China nor France nor any other nation is half the country we are. But you know what this government has taken away and I want back??? My since of peace. I'm scared for the first time in my life. I am scared to turn on the news in the morning because I don't want to know what my government has done today. They are trying to turn us into a communist nation one grand "Obama-Plan" at a time. I don't want your "free" health care and by the looks of the polls, neither does a good percentage of this country. If it were so great, how come you and Nancy aren't first in line for it? I don't want any more of his "change"... I just want us to take back our country!!

More things that I want.... I want to be able to say God in my pledge like I always have without it being a big deal. And I want my money to read "In God We Trust"...because we do! And I want our children to be able to where the flag of our country on their clothes no matter what day it is! I want more states to follow in Arizona's footsteps (if I can't be in Mexico without my passport, then why should they be here without documentation?).

When I hear the song "God Bless the U.S.A" you can bet your butt that I am standing up with my fist balled up and yelling the words at the top of my lungs. This country is the Best...and if you don't think so too then get your butt out because we are only as strong as our weakest link..so in the words of Anne Robinson, "Goodbye!"-and might I add a swift kick too!

If you love this country too and want to take it back, its time to do something about it! We have 5 months...get your voice heard and then vote the jerks out who are not doing their jobs!!

Have a GOODloe Day!

Why I love music...

I have been to upwards of 40-50 concerts in my life...and about 15 of them were pretty big names...including but AC/DC, Tim McGraw, Big & Rich, Third Day, Pat Green, Charlie Daniels Band, and of course the most recent and the BEST concert that I have EVER EXPERIENCED Jimmy Buffett.

If you take a look at just those few names there, you can see a little of the variety in my musical tastes...but I love so many types of music! I love Christian, Country, Rock, Alternative, Pop, and some R&B, and rap. I love music ranging from Jimmy's "Cheeseburger in Paradise" to AC/DC's "Thunderstruck" to Casting Crowns "Who Am I."

There are so many reasons to love music. Some music is "chill" music. You know the kind I am talking about. It doesn't belong at a club or bar but is good music in other settings..like at a coffee bar, hanging with friend at the house...or even while writing a blog about music. By the way might I say that I think Pandora.com is awesome. If you haven't ever used it, it is an awesome online radio that you can build your own radio stations..ok...sorry...Other music is "two steppin" music....some of my favorite music is in this category because I love to two step! So anything that can get me up on the dance floor and spinning is always good in my book! Then you got "booty shaking" music, and if you have ever been to any function that played this type of music you know what it is with out me going into detail. :) Another good group of music is "Classic" rock...I stipulate classic rock here because it has to have its own label because lets face it, Classic rock is some of the BEST music ever made and can't be lumped with some of the rock today that just can't compete. Having said that, I will say that there are great rock bands out today and I dont want to take anything away from them...BUT, here is my where I draw my line, I am not a fan of screaming death metal that you can't even tell what the heck they are saying. What the heck happened to having a melody? That whole branch of "music" if you can call it that, is just noise to me, but that's part of why I like music...there is something for everybody. Just because I don't like it, doesn't mean I judge people who do, to each there own!

Ok...but I realized this weekend another reason why I love music...It brings people from all over together. I spent about 7 hours on Saturday with 30,000 of the friendliest, happiest people I have ever met. I didn't meet a stranger all day! I talked to people from Dallas, Abilene, Lousiana, Kansas, you name it!...it was amazing!! And we were all singing Jimmy's songs like we had been practicing with him for weeks. Music is Universal. Jimmy has concerts in France this tour....Random right?!

But that's the thing...you can live wherever, doing whatever and music can be your escape at the end of the day, or your get away on the weekend. Music is something that you can have as a private get away for yourself or you can share it with your loved ones...like you and your grandma going to Jimmy Buffett together! Music is a way you can kind of express yourself that maybe you cant sometimes...like sometimes when I am in a bit of a feisty mood I put on some Allannis Morrissette and people just need to keep back.

But here's the thing, whatever music you dig is your choice...nobody can change that, and I love that...its a part of you. You can choose to dance to polka or rap "Pants on the ground"... Whatever makes you happy...

Have a GOODloe Day!

These are a few of my favorite things...

To appreciate my favorite things I first want to share things I really dislike...readyyyyyy....GO!

WIND!!, double negatives, San Diego Chargers, being sick, the Artesia Nat'l Bank Radio spots, people saying I am gonna be a cat lady, bad hair days, forgotten birthdays, Tuesday mornings, morning people, cheaters, feeling bored, slow drivers when I am already late, smoking, bad wives/mothers, hot beer, sleeping alone, brussel sprouts, acordian music, the state our government is in, really cold days, really hot days, missing someone, being hungover...ummm, yea, can't think of anything else....

I have lots of things I really, really like...for example, fishing, chocolate, and starry skies to name a few...BUT.... my top three favorite things(not counting people), in my life: RAIN, LAUGHING, LOVE.

RAIN: Everything from the smell to the feel of it on a bare shoulder... Rain is like natures perfume. How many people do you know that don't like the smell of rain?! It's intoxicating. And the feel of it tracing down your jaw line as you gaze at a rippling puddle before you. It tickles every sense... I remember as a kid sticking my tongue out to catch the drops, so pure...awww...Rain...hmmmm.

LAUGHING: My favorite past time. If I could just sit and do one thing the rest of my life...I would choose to be in a room with a bunch of funny people and just tell jokes and laugh. Just laugh til my stomach hurt and tears fell. When I was growing up I had a few friends that we used to joke that we were so skinny bc we laughed all the time.. and its probably the truth... I remember just holding my stomach it hurt so bad from laughing. But if thats the only pain in life I had, laughter pains, then life is as good as it could ever be. I hope that in my next 25 years I laugh even more than my first 25.

LOVE: oh, love. How complex, and so simple. We make love hard sometimes, but it is easy and beautiful. I guess the real question about love that makes it so difficult is whether it is a feeling or an action or both. If love is only a feeling, then its something that develops but no work has to be put into the relationship, ie, you care for your disabled brother but you dont have to help him to the dr. Or if love is only an action, then its something that is just done because it should be done, not becasue your feelings said you should, ie, A boy helps a lady up who has fallen because he was taught to do so. Or, love is a combination of the two...which is how I believe...When we have feelings for those we love (our families, significant others, etc) we should show them we care by expressing our love both in words and actions. Tell them you love them but also show them. Do the things for them that you know make them happy, not bc they asked, but bc you want to bring a smile to their face. Love is something to be cherished, it's delecate. I like to think of love like a bar of soap in the shower. If you don't hold on tight enough you will drop it, but if you try to grip it too tight it will slip through your fingers.

So having said all that, I am gonna go to bed now, and tomorrow I am gonna hava a big laugh with the people I love, hopefully while eating some chocolate...Probably no rain tomorrow, but that's another reason I like it so much...it's so rare here that when it comes it's a sweeping breath of fresh air across the valley.

I am blessed

I think every morning no matter what we have going on we should think of at least one thing we are thankful for, and thank God for it...then before bed...think of one more thing we are thankful for and thank God for it. I'm not saying we should only do it twice in the day, but a minimum of morning and night.

This day was neither amazingly good nor bad...but I have a smile on my face because I have things to be thankful for. I have a wonderful life. I really do. Today I gave my life some serious thought. I really contemplated where I am and where I have been, and where I want to be and what I want....but most of all, I thought about all I have to be thankful for.

Some of you, perhaps most of you, may not know that just a few short months ago I was in a wheel chair. For two months I was limited to a walker and wheel chair. I was diagnosed with a movement disorder, paroxysmal dyskinesia. I wasn't sure if I would ever walk again and the doctors couldn't figure out what I had. The Lord blessed me with many wonderful people..I had friends who donated and raised money, I had family who went above and beyond to help me, and then I was sent to the Mayo clinic where they finally were able to diagnose my disorder. Some people say they don't believe in prayer for healing and that sort of thing...and while I may still have to take medicine for my disorder, God sent me to those doctors....and I am walking... so I accept my healing. Life is wonderful, and God is Good.

I try to live by a slogan "Smile, life is what you make of it." And people, it is exactly that. When I let myself get down about the stuff I was going through, it all seemed to get worse...but as soon as I put a smile on my face and truly believed my life was good, it was better...and the next day better, the next...and so on... Every morning is another chance to better your life for you and your family. If you aren't happy change it. You might not necessarily be able to change some of the pieces of your life, but chage your attititude about it and it will make it better...And more than that, if you acknowledge God for the blessings in your life..more blessings will come your way... If you look at your life right now and you can't see any blessings, then you need to reevaluate your life...this is kinda what I was talking about in my last blog about making oneself better everyday. You need to be able to see the beauty in life, and blessings are definately part of the beauty.

First, take a look at your family. When was the last time you really were thankful for your family? Today I was driving home from Mickey D's, and it hit me that I havent hugged my parents in a while..I haven't cherished them, been thankful for them like I should be...making a point to go to their house tomorrow just for the sake of hugging them both.

Friends. How do you treat your friends? Do you treat them like you would want to be treated? Or do you keep them around for when your other options aren't available? Are you truly thankful for your friends? If so, show them, tell them, cherish them.

Blue skies, rainy days, a job, a dog, a home...all things to be thankful for, we take for granted. You owe a thanks to somebody....My thanks go to God...and I thank Him for you.

No Complaints

I have nothing to complain about today. There is something I could complain about...I will tell you about it, but I am not complaining, and here is why...

So, living is a small town everybody knows everybody, so everybody, or most everybody knows my ex-boyfriend. Well, I have had issues with guys not wanting to go on dates with me because they know him/ friends with him/ grew up with him, whatever....at first I really let that hurt my feelings and get me down. It happened again this week, and for 6 months of it happening, its just gotten to the point that now I am like...FORGET ALL Y'ALL WHO THINK YOUR TOO GOOD FOR ME!! If something like that is gonna keep someone from giving me a chance then you don't deserve the chance to be with me. I think God did pretty good with me and so I am not gonna let myself get down about something like that anymore. I may not be perfect but to some man I will be perfect to him, and he is gonna realize what a catch I am. I am gonna spoil the heck out of him, and treat him like he deserves because he is gonna treat me like I deserve. No more settling. Last week the sermon was on marriage and preparation for it. Well, I have always prayed that God would send me my man, but the preacher said that you should pray that God be preparing you for your wife/husband so that when He does send them you are the best you can be. So that's what I am gonna do. I am gonna be working and praying to make myself better for whoever you are.

Lately I have been really working to make myself a better person. I have tried to take a step back and think about what I need to do to be a better me. I am working on lots of stuff. Some stuff, most stuff, nobody knows about. But I think part of maturing as a person should be about working to make oneself better. If you stop growing then you become stagnant, complacent. A life without forward movement is barely a life at all. What do you want for your children? Would you be happy knowing that they were settling for a "C Average" lifestyle? If you wouldn't want that for them, why is it ok for you? I have decided mediocrity is no longer ok for me...I am working to improve myself inwardly and my situation outwardly...and I encourage you to do the same. If we are all making strides to be better people, we will be happier and better to eachother...I think that's very worth the effort...dont you?

I didn't want it to come to this...

Well, here it goes... I am about to post something I told myself I wasn't going to post, but its necessary. Guys, you need to read this. I wrote this a few years back, so a couple of my friends will probably recall these words but they are still true...Here it is, with the language toned down bc I said I wouldn't cuss...come on guys.. GET A CLUE!!!

Guys complain that girls never go for the nice guy. Well, ya'll have driven us to it, and by the way, there is no such thing as a "nice guy"...maybe "nicer guys" but even my guy friends will admit that every man is part a-hole, it just depends on what percentage. And with each day this truth becomes more clear. I will say, however, to be fair, that I do believe that every girl is part b-word, in some percentage...but again, yall have driven us to it because we have NO IDEA WHAT YOU WANT! We are darned if we do, darned if we don't.

If we are too fat, or skinny, or our hair and make up aren't kept up...you might not even see us walk by...but if we are too pretty, dressed too nice, or built too perfect....you think we are full of ourselves, out of your reach, or stuck up...EITHER WAY...YOU WON'T ASK US OUT!!

If we take the initiative to ask you out, call you, or make any first moves...you think we are too forward, clingy, or not enough challenge...BUT if we play aloof, are stand-offish, or play hard to get....you think we aren't in to you, are complicated, or are playing mind games...EITHER WAY...YOU WON'T ASK US OUT!!

If you are too good of friends with the guys (me for instance)..you enjoy watching sports, fishing, camping, the occasional beer...you aren't girly enough for most guys..."wow, you are so much fun!... you would make such an awesome girlfriend!... but we are just too good of friends...it would be weird, don't you think?!"...BUT...if you are too girly, like to shop, twirl your hair when you talk, or any other stupid reason my guy friends have complained about girls they date...then you lose also...frustrating, huh?

Not to mention that we have to deal with all the pressures of society saying we have to be just this way or that, and our hair fixed just right, and not show weakness or be too strong willed....its rediculous!!

On top of that we go thru a huge emotional swing, with cramps, and fat pants, and special trips to the store...but we have to pretend it isnt happening..."No I'm great!" "Never felt better!" "Hunny you look tired, can I rub your feet?!" Its BS...but we have to go thru it every month so that oneday we can experience even worse pain that man will never understand.

So, I'm tired of the ifs, ands, buts, etc...I'll call you if I feel like it...I might ask you out if I really like you, but chances are I am gonna expect you to grow a pair and ask me out (bc I am old fashioned)...Oh, and just because you pay for a girls dinner at a nice place does not mean she OWES you anything but a thank you so dont expect anything more than that....and you know what I am talking about!!

If you are a guy reading this don't get mad about this...just seriously think about it. If you have a girlfriend try to really think about the pressures she has around her...If you are single, then start trying to consider what you are really looking for in that other person and not the superficial things. You might be discounting some amazing girls bc of some stupid thing that you decided in high school about blondes or something.

Final thought... what if you waited your whole life for your Prince/Princess Charming to show up on a white horse and they came in on a black one? Are you so set on what your looking for that your blind to something perfect and amazing and different coming in?

Tuesday Mornings..I loathe thee

So, Tuesday mornings...I can't stand them!!!

Monday kinda sucks but atleast you did just have a weekend,
Wednesday is hump day...halfway there,
Thursday, well obviously...you can almost taste Friday...
Friday...(need I say more?!)

Tuesday morning is like the butt crack of the work week. What is there to look forward to?! Your alarm goes off and you think "wow, its only Tuesday"...That really sucks. It's not even Mid-week yet...Dang..."This week is stinking dragging..." Right now you might be smiling because you have thought this...if you haven't then you are probably a morning person, and well, you make me sick, and I might have to blog about you one day. Anyway...Tomorrow is Tuesday and so if I am an angry elf in the morning just know that it is because it is Tuesday morning and not because of hormones or any other woman issues as guys say. Having said this now, all you morning people should know to handle me with caution on Tuesday mornings in particular because well, you are lucky you survive Monday mornings...don't try me on Tuesdays.

Anyway, today was a good day. I felt really good. I didn't do anything super fun or anything but a had a great weekend with my friends so it put me in a good mood for the week. I don't have a whole bunch going on this week, but a few items on the agenda... I do plan to really hit the exercise hard the next few weeks. The cruise is creeping up on me! I don't have the cute little teeny bopper body I used to have but I don't really care to... It's too much work to get it and then to keep it. When I had it I was able to eat whatever, whenever and didn't have to work at it...Oh the glory days!!! But I am happy with my body...just want to be healthy and toned now.

I'm feeling inspired.....
"Without goals, and plans to reach them, you are like a ship that has set sail with no destination."-Fitzhugh Dodson
I came across this quote recently...it struck me to my core..in two ways...First, for its main and obvious reason. You can't aimlessly wander thru life if you plan to really make something more of yourself...I need to work on that. I need to set standards and goals for myself and then times to meet those goals...I encourage you to do the same...benchmarks are great for everything in life...papers in school, credit card debt, financials for your boss, etc. The second thing the quote made me think on was who my Captain is. I know that God should be the Captain of my life but, I am constantly trying to take the stern, especially during the storms. But God wants to lead us through the storm and wants us to trust Him through it. I need to sit back in the passenger seat and let God do His thing...that's my challenge for myself this week is to Let Go and Let God.

So here it is...

Well, Here it is...what you have all waited for....my very own blog! Where I can B**** and moan all I want nobody can stop me!!! WOOPEE!!

First I want to say welcome! This being my first experience blogging aside from some very angry rants on Myspace, which I might add did get some good reviews...you should go read them if you haven't! :) Anyway...

I think I want to start each blog off with one rant because, well, I'm single and don't have anybody else to hear my spill right now and you obvioulsy give a little bit of a S*** or you wouldn't be reading right now so here goes...

Why is there this double standard for men and women about things being sociably acceptable for men and not for women? It starts when we are young. Girls have early curfews, can't date, shouldn't call boys, yady yada, while boys can stay out and party, have sex, and all that jazz...HELLOOOO...WHO ARE THE BOYS SLEEPING WITH?! How is that fair that the girl is called a slut and looked down on because she slept with him and he is getting high fives from his dad?! And things don't change when she grows up either. She goes to a party or a bar to have a glass of wine and people say..."she shouldn't be out partying...tsk, tsk, that's not very becomming of a lady." While the guy next to her is taking a beer bong and rallying a streak through the quad. ok, that's all for my rant...

The weather was nice today. Had a nice drizzle this morning. Then some sun...granted its not exactly pleasant right now, but I'm not going for a walk in the park at 10pm either so who cares, right?

I have been doing HipHop Abs this week and it is kicking my ABS!! lol...that's another thing...Nomatter how mad I get I am not gonna cuss on here, so yes I said abs, but no I didn't mean abs....I did the video earlier this week and I seriously thought I was gonna die. Had the phone in my hand and was debating if I should call 911 or my mom first. I have never hurt so bad EVER!!! But last night I did almost twice as long and yes I hurt, but I dont walk like I have anything shoved any holes. :)

But I guess that's all for today!! Have a GOODloe Day!!!
